Planning a New Brand? How to Work with LibDib Before You’re Ready to Ship
Thank you for thinking of LibDib as you build your brand. We love hearing from Makers in the planning stages, and we want to help you get to market as smoothly as possible. Unlike traditional distributors, LibDib doesn’t require you to pitch us on your brand. With a LibDib Membership, you have distribution. For a new brand, that’s a huge step: you can plan your launch knowing that distribution is available to you in some of the country’s largest markets. Here is how we work with brands that are still in development.
Why we wait to meet until you’re 60 days from shipping
LibDib schedules onboarding meetings with Makers once they are 60 away from having product ready to ship. Getting a new brand to market involves federal and state compliance steps, including label approvals, licensing, and state registrations, and these often take longer than expected. Many brands see their launch slip by six months to a year. When that happens, the details from an early meeting are usually out of date, and we need to meet again once the brand is ready.
Every meeting is an investment of time and resources for both your team and ours. By waiting until you’re close to launch, we can make sure that meeting is focused, current, and useful.
You can include LibDib in your business plan now
You don’t need a meeting to plan around LibDib. Our business model, pricing, and processes are published openly in the Help Center, so you can map out your distribution costs, margins, and market plan today. When you’re 60 days from shipping, schedule your meeting, and we’ll take it from there.
Start your account anytime
You don’t have to wait until you’re close to launch to open a LibDib account. You can start your LibDib account now and simply skip the licensing steps until your approvals are in place. This lets you get familiar with the platform and have your account ready when it’s time to launch.
If you need hands-on help sooner
If you’d like guidance earlier in the process, you can sign up early for a membership that includes a Portfolio Manager, such as Silver or Gold, or add Priority Onboarding. Your Portfolio Manager will work with you directly as you prepare to go live. Please note that LibDib cannot complete your compliance work for you, but our team can share time-saving referrals and practical advice to help you move through the process. See LibDib Membership Plans for details.
