How to Sign Up for LibDib When Using a Co-Packer or Importer
If your brand works with an importer or co-packer, create your own LibDib account for your brand instead of being added to your importer's account. Your account is still set up under your importer's license, but it belongs to your brand, so you control your data, orders and information.
Why your brand needs its own account
When your products sit inside a larger importer account, someone else controls the login. You can't see your own orders, customers or sales history without going through them.
With your own account, you can:
- Log in any time to see your orders, customers and sales.
- Update your brand information, products and offerings yourself.
- Download LibShip labels for your orders. Only Makers can log in to download labels, so this step depends on having access.
- Keep your own records if you ever change importers or co-packers (see below).
How to sign up
- Go to app.libdib.com and start a new Maker account.
- In the Start by setting up your company section, enter your company name as Importer / Your Brand Name. For example: MHW / Cobalt Brands.
- Leave the EIN field blank.
- For the address and phone number, use your importer's contact information, since they hold the license.
- Speak to your importer about the licenses you need by state. They can send you a copy for your LibDib account.
- Finish setting up your account and add your products and offerings.
Processing orders with your Importer Partner
- Once you receive the notification of a LibDib order, log in to your LibDib account.
- Download the LibShip label.
- Send the label to your importer or co-packer.
- Release the product to LibDib using their standard process.
Payments go to the license holder, which is most often your importer. International brands must already have a U.S. importer before signing up. Need one? Email makers@libdib.com for a referral.
If you change importers or co-packers
A new LibDib account is required when you switch, because the license holder, billing and ship-from location all change. Your original account stays active for record keeping, and LibDib keeps that history for 2 to 7 years depending on the state.
This is where having your own account pays off. You keep login access to your past orders, invoices and customers, and you have your product and pricing details on hand to set up the new account quickly. If your brand was buried in someone else's account, that history stays with them.
Tell LibDib about 8 weeks before the switch so your products stay available to Buyers, especially in price-posting markets.
After you sign up
Before you go live, tell your importer or co-packer that LibDib is your distributor in that market. Some partners need up to 10 business days to add a new distributor to their system.
When an order comes in, you'll:
- Log in to your LibDib account.
- Download the LibShip label.
- Send the label to your importer or co-packer.
- Release the product to LibDib using their standard process.
