Do I need a new LibDib account if I change co-packer or importer?
Yes. If you move from one co-packer or importer to another, a new LibDib account is required.
Why is a new account necessary?
LibDib operates as a licensed distributor, and all activity on the platform is tied to the specific legal entity responsible for the product. When your co-packer or importer changes, the following also changes:
- Licensing and compliance credentials
- Billing and payment structure
- “Ship from” location and permits
- Legal entity responsible for the product
Because of this, we cannot simply update your existing account to reflect a new co-packer or importer. A new account ensures that all orders, shipments, and payments are aligned with the correct, current entity.
What happens to my existing account?
Your original account will remain active in the system for record keeping purposes.
LibDib is required to retain historical order and transaction data for 2–7 years, depending on state regulations. This includes:
- Past orders and invoices
- Shipment records
- Compliance documentation
This data must remain tied to the original licensed entity and cannot be transferred to a new account.
Will my products carry over to the new account?
No. Products (offerings) must be recreated and submitted under the new account. This ensures:
- Correct licensing and approvals
- Accurate pricing and compliance setup
- Proper alignment with the new co-packer or importer
What should I do next?
If you are planning a transition, please alert LibDib in a timely manner. 8 weeks prior to the transition will ensure no delay in availability of your products to buyers, especially in Price Posting markets.
- Create a new LibDib account under the new co-packer or importer
- Add and submit your offerings for approval
- Coordinate timing to avoid gaps in availability
If you need help with the transition, your Portfolio Manager (Gold and Silver Members) or the LibDib Maker (makers@libdib.com) team can assist to make the process as smooth as possible.
